Editorial One.
My first editorial is titled "The In-Between", exploring my mixed race background, The In-Between is an editorial that captures the inner conflict of navigating one’s own racial identity and where they belong in their cultural spectrum. It explores the sense of disconnection felt when under familial pressure to choose a side, and the journey of self discovery that reveals both sides can coexist. Embracing the duality, it shows that you don’t have to choose, that you can fully be both.

The fifties and sixties were a pivotal decade for women, marked by deep-rooted oppression yet transformative empowerment. Women began defying societal norms, gaining more control over their lives, and setting the stage for the second-wave of feminism. This dual reality made the 1960s both a period of struggle and a time of significant progress for women. “Modernist Moxie’ is an editorial that follows a young girl along her journey through self-expression as a women in the sixties. From apprehension in self-expression to being unapologetically herself, this editorial explores the sense of empowerment women felt when there were cultural shifts in movements and fashion. Exploring pagination, this project shows how the editorial would look like with typography and layout in a magazine.
